How can a man’s ways be established? He must have purpose, and it must be the right and not a misguided or delusional purpose.
A man must have a purpose, a goal, an end destination that will serve as a compass and guiding star through life. He must have one great final destination and a series of smaller goals, or stepping stones, that lead to that destination.
Without these goals, a man will just go in circles in whatever direction he chances upon, and will come to no good end nor will he accomplish any good in the process of getting there. All his energies, passions, and dormant potential will be wasted. How great a human tragedy!
Many recoil from the thought of death, yet how few recoil from the thought of growing old and never having discovered their purpose for existence and, in so doing, have never really lived. We are truly living in the world of the walking dead. It is a sad world indeed.
This is where one needs God to come into his life, for without God, man has no meaningful purpose. Your Creator has engineered you in such a way that the real you, with all of your potential goodness and worth and the very reason for which you were born, cannot be unlocked without your coming to Him and making a sincere and lasting heart commitment to walk in His ways.
God holds the keys and so graciously offers, “Come unto me and I will give you rest.” Why? Because there is no rest for the soul that has not connected with its purpose. Till the purpose is found, man’s heart is a roving, restless heart that turns to empty dreams and unlawful or unnatural pleasures that spiral down into the abyss of insatiable desire and unsatisfied longings.
He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
