Decades back, I noticed a troubled-looking woman walking alone down the street talking aloud to herself. I thought, poor soul, who knows what trauma and sorrows she has faced along life’s journey. Then I considered it was actually a wonder many others in town were not in like condition. Life can strike pretty hard, and man can bear only so much.
At that time, I never could have imagined what mankind would be facing today. Our world has been turned upside-down. In the past four years, we have seen things never seen heretofore, and heard things unthinkable not so very long ago–the military placing feminine hygiene products in men’s bathrooms; people asking “what is a woman?” A “church” in Switzerland is now using an AI hologram of Jesus to take confessions from worshippers. The list of madness goes on and on, and you can be sure there will be more to come.
Added to this, the threat of WWIII is troubling many minds and hearts. Only God knows what the future may hold. But we are, in fact, already in a global war of a deeper nature; a spiritual warfare being waged against all of us wherein our minds are being attacked.
We are being assailed with propaganda bombs and conflicting narratives, creating such constant chaos that one is left to wonder what to believe. Some ask, as did Pilate, what is truth, and who are the truth-tellers? Satan loves to blind minds, and in this end time is employing all his foul craft to deceive and confuse. In a recent speech in Austria, Prince Leo von Hohenberg described it as a war of words to change “norms through universal repetition of mantras in media, film, and television, through changing school and university curriculum, through changing culture, through selectively manipulating data, now with the help of AI and other subtle techniques.”
Employing also the addictive power of our technological devices, Satan captures minds, dumbing us down all the while, as well as hindering meaningful conversations with real people at hand. Fast and furious come the damaging blows and many late night attacks leave people weary, lonely, and empty.
The pressures against the mind are very real. Many factors in this war were caused by decades of social engineering and technocratic planning by the kings and merchants of the earth–the rich, elite technocrats who run this world.
Now here we are in a crisis of mental health issues, with a prevalence of depression and an epidemic of suicides. For the sake of our well-being, we would all do well to draw aside from the daily pressures that seem to demand our attention and yet appear to be so inescapable.
If you, dear reader, are not already saved, I urge you, first and foremost, to turn to God. We desperately need Him! He desires to be your anchor in the storm and give you the strength to endure the strain of this warfare. Philippians 4:7 assures us that “the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” What sweet consolation–God Himself will keep our hearts and minds, which are under attack now more than ever! Isaiah the prophet speaks of a promise with similar comfort: “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee.” Isaiah 26:3.
In order for our minds to be stayed on God, we must exert a violence to not stay them on the incessant stream of news and trivia coming on our devices hourly. Limit screen and audio time. Read a book instead. Reduce your news intake. Visit family and friends. Walk in nature. Spend time with God. Eat well and get rest. You will find that stress will decrease and peace of mind will increase as you exercise yourself in these things. As Prince Leo von Hohenberg stated: “Look up from your phone and try to initiate casual conversations with the cashier, the taxi driver, your fellow passenger on a train or an airplane”–and, most importantly, your own family. No phones at the dinner table would greatly benefit the entire family.
We were not designed to live in a virtual media world, but to live a real life connecting with real people. First and foremost, we were designed to walk with God, and to abide in His loving care. His paths are pleasantness and peace.
Consider this timeless counsel from Holy Writ: “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8.
